Dear Friends,

As updates on the impact of the coronavirus continue to be released, we want to take a moment to inform you of the procedures being utilized at The Springboard Center.  We strive to maintain an open facility for care and allow for all precautions to be utilized to prevent infection among clients, guests, and staff.

We have been diligently seeking information and best practice advice as the situation nationally and internationally evolves.  Updates from the CDC are consistently monitored to ensure that all guidance received is based on the latest information released.  Further, our Medical Director, Dr. Terry Beck has been advising us about best practices, and has encouraged the use of ProCare in Odessa for anyone who may need CoVid-19 testing.

Specifically:

  • All staff members have received infection prevention and control training and are monitored to ensure compliance. Clients also receive this information as part of the instructional programming.
  • Informational posters are on display to provide important reminders on proper infection prevention procedures.
  • Thorough disinfection and hygiene guidance has been provided and is being monitored. Hand washing and sanitizing are just part of everyday life now.
  • We are monitoring and ensuring appropriate utilization of patient care supplies such as hand sanitizer and adapting to hygiene standards, as well as adapting cleaning procedures for areas of high use and handled materials, such as laundry, desks and equipment wipes, and door openers/handles.
  • We are routinely checking that any personal protective equipment items are properly and securely stored.
  • We continue to review visitation policies and have enhanced screening measures. Prior to entering IOP or family visitation, persons are being asked the three most salient questions about where they have been, if they feel even slightly ill or if they feel feverish, and have they experienced any shortness of breath or cough.  We have not allowed persons who could be carriers of colds, influenza, and/or CoVid-19 to enter the facility.
  • We are in communication with our local authorities to receive important community-specific updates.
  • We are reviewing and adapting any policy and procedures that needs to include changes given current circumstances, reminding employees where those can be found, and developing new control procedures and information with medical staff to ensure the soundness of those procedures.

Should a client or guest present with flu-like symptoms, the following measures will be taken:

  • Our staff members would promptly employ any personal protective equipment warranted or necessary.
  • We would contact the Medical Director to seek appropriate orders for the patient to be tested and if needed transferred into another level of care for testing and treatment.
  • If a guest, a resource page of who may be seen and at what location will be given, however, entry to our facility would be denied.

The health and safety of our clients, their families, and our employees is our top priority.  We will remain steadfast in our efforts to reduce any risk associated with CoVid-19. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact 432-620-0255.

Thank you for your continuing trust and partnership.

Blessings,

Dr. Mark Alexander, Executive Director
