Going on vacation is the perfect time to destress and relax but at the same time, you need to take care of yourself. You want to make sure that when you travel that you have fun but still stay healthy at the same time. You need to exercise, eat, and sleep right in order to have enough energy during your trip.
It can be exhausting being in the airport carrying your luggage and walking all around as well as waiting for your plane to come. If you are traveling between time zones, you might be experiencing jet lag so it is important to rest for a few hours when you land so you can be energized for the rest of the day. Every morning, spend five to ten minutes stretching your arms, legs, neck, shoulders, and back as well as at night to relax your muscles and sleep well. For moments when you have to wait in line for the next tourist attraction or waiting for your delicious food to come from the restaurant, do some deep breathing exercises so you can get over the stress of traveling and relax for the rest of the day.
Fit walking in your daily life like in the morning to get from place to place instead of using public transportation or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Try to exercise for at least half an hour either using the gym in the hotel or a temporary gym pass while you are in town. If you do not want a gym membership, try exercising at home as you do not always need exercising equipment for activities such as running, push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, etc.
Make sure to eat breakfast every morning instead of skipping to lunch or you will eat more for your other meals. You can make breakfast simple by making instant oatmeal, cereal, or eat fruit. You can go to your local bakery and buy pastries and a coffee. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and food will give you energy to last you throughout the day. Instead of going out for every meal every day, go to your grocery store and buy ingredients. Eat as much veggies as you can like a vegetarian dish or get a salad as a side. Always keep in mind that a vacation is never a vacation from taking care of yourself.
